The pie charts compare three primary computer operating systems with others in terms of the market share, based on the percentage of users over four consecutive years, starting in 2012.
Looking at the illustration, it is immediately evident that other OS types recorded the highest figure throughout the period, whereas OS 3 had the lowest market share. Additionally, OS 1 and OS 2 showed an overall upward trend, while OS 3 experienced fluctuations before declining
In the first year, the percentage of other OS types dominated the chart, at approximately 48%, which was roughly double the figure for OS 1 20%. OS 2 ranked third, with a mere 17%, while OS 3 came in last at 15%. In a special year, OS 1 had reached a peak of 47%, compared to small changes in the market shares of the other three. OS 1 had overtaken OS 2 to be the most widely used out of them.
In the last year, despite some fluctuations, other OS types experienced dramatic drops, plunging to 23%. Meanwhile, OS 1 experienced exponential growth and reached a peak of around 47%, becoming the biggest in the chart. OS 2 experienced steady growth to 18% and remained the second largest OS type.
