Overall, while the service and industrial sectors saw an increase in the most countries, the percentage of workers in agriculture in three countries were at the lowest points (Germany, the USA and Japan). Whereas, China was a dominant in agriculture throughout the periods. By 2010, industry had become the dominant sector in Germany, the USA and Japan.

In 1980, Germany, the USA and China showed similar trends, in the services sector. In the USA, China and Germany, the services accounted for approximately 50%. While the figure in Japan stood at 39%. The employment services dropped to about 40% in the USA and Germany. In Japan it declined to 30% and in China decreased to 20%. Meanwhile, China experienced a dramatical decline in the agriculture, the figure fell to 50%, while other countries stood under the 10%.
