The chart illustrates the number of people visiting an unknown country for a short period as well as the number of residents departing from the country for a short trip from 2009 until 2011.
Overall, the line graphs show that more people are leaving the country than visiting it, starting with a small difference of 50 thousand people. However, at the end of the period, the difference grows and reaches a difference of 155 thousand people approximately in 18 months.
First, the number of visitors started at 490 thousand in October of 2009 and in 4 months it reached 500 thousand visits, number that remained steady for almost 4 months. After this period, in June 2010, there was a slight increase of 22 thousand arrivals. Nevertheless, from October 2010 to June 2011, the numbers started to gradually decline, reaching almost the same number of visits than at the beginning of the year, 490 thousand arrivals.
On the other hand, the number of resident departures started with a higher number of 545 thousand people. During all the period, the trend tends to gradually increase, with minor fluctuations which do not decline, but stayed steady in February 2010 and October 2010. Nevertheless, departing residents reached a peak of 640 thousand people approximately, establishing a difference of 155 thousand people flow in 18 months.
