The pie charts illustrate the distribution of electricity consumption across eight sectors in Eastern Australia in 2007 and 2010.
Overall, there were only slight changes over the period, with most sectors maintaining a similar share. Residential and commercial sectors remained the dominant consumers of electricity, while other metals saw a noticeable increase, and manufacturing and aluminum experienced a decline. Transportation and agriculture consistently accounted for the smallest proportions.
Most industries showed little or no change in electricity usage. Residential consumption remained the largest, holding a steady 28%, slightly higher than the commercial sector, which accounted for 23%. Similarly, mining, transportation, and agriculture exhibited stable usage throughout the period. Mining represented 9%, whereas both transportation and agriculture lagged behind at just 1% each.
The sector of other metals was the only one to display a significant increase. Its share rose from 12% in 2007 to 18% in 2010, making it the third largest consumer of electricity.
In contrast, manufacturing and aluminum experienced a downward trend. Manufacturing saw the sharpest decline, dropping from 13% to 9%, while aluminum fell more moderately from 13% to 11%.
