Overall, the marriage rates for women and men aged 16 to 30 showed an upward trend from 1996 to 2008, while the marriage rates witnessed a steady decreased of different genders after the age of 30. It is clear that the age range of 25 to 29 years reach the highest point marriage rate. At the same time, the age range of 16 to 19 years old has the lowest marriage rate.
In both 1996 and 2008. the number of people who got married under the age of 20 took up the smallest proportion. In 2008, in particular, fewer people under the age of 20 were married than in 1996, at 1% and 0% separately. The percentage of male and female between 25 and 29 got married was the highest from 1996 to 2008, standing at 13% and 9% respectively. – The marriagerate for women aged 30-34 exceeds that for men in 1996, at 9%. During the period, the twelve years from 1996 to 2008 witnessed a significantly growth of women ages 30 to 34 were married, increased to the peak at 11% in 2008. Then there was a significant decline in marriage rates among those aged 35 to 44.
