The Pie charts compare the proportion of people hired by three sectors, namely manufacturing, sales and services in two towns between 1960 and 2010.
Overall, town A experienced a dramatic increase in services sector while in Town B manufacturing remained the predominant sector in both years. It is worth mentioning that services sector saw a significant growth in both Towns.
Looking a t the details in Town A, in 1960 41% of people were employed in manufacturing sector while sales and services has similar proportions, 30% and 29% respectively. In 2010, the percentage of people working in services witnessed a significant rise, reaching 64%. However, there were falls in the proportions of sales and manufacturing, halving in the figures, 16% and 20 % respectively.
Turning to Town B, the greatest proportion of workers was on manufacturing, which represented 70% of the total figures in 1960, while sales and services stood at 20% and 10% respectively. By 2010 manufacturing had decreased to 53%, however sales and services had risen to 25% and 22% respectively.
