The pie charts illustrate the number of secondary school’s students in percentages in the UK who take different subjects and compare the changes over the period between 1995 up to present time.
Generally speaking, it is noticeable that the proportion of students who studied History remained relatively stable in both years. Also, IT, which did not even appear in 1995, has become the most popular course now.
In 1995, there were 26% of students selected History, while today there are still 25% of students who are studying History. By contrast, IT witnessed a dramatic increase. In 1995, no students had interest in IT. However, around 27% of students started to choose IT as one of their courses.
The proportion of students who studied Geography and Business remained slightly over the period between 1995 and this year, with around a few raise from 21% to 23% in Geography, and there are still 16% of students prefer Business. Nevertheless, Art, RS, and Drama students saw a great decrease. The proportion of students who studied art dropped from 15% to 8%, a decline of 7%. There are 9% of students studied RS and 12% of students studied Drama, but nobody take these two subjects any more today.
