The pie charts show the percentage of water used for three different purposes, namely industrial, agricultural, and domestic use in six regions of the world.
It is apparent that agriculture accounts for the lion’s share of the charts in four areas while industrial use tops other factors of water use in other two regions. It is also noticeable that the least proportion of water use comprised of domestic purposes.
Looking more precisely at the chart, while more than four fifths of water use in three areas, namely Africa, central Asia, and south-east of Asia consist of agricultural use, in north America and Europe it only constitutes about one third of the chart, 39% in north America and 32% in Europe. In these two regions, around half of the water use is composed of industrial use.
The most amount of water in south America is used in agriculture, at 71% of the whole use, while roughly a fifth of water used by average people, and industrial use makes up the remaining 10%. Industrial and domestic use account for only around 20% of water use in Africa, central and south-east of Asia. Average people in north America and Europe use approximately the same proportion of water, at 15%.
