In 1980, the proportion of people employed in agriculture in China was the highest at 70%. However, in the remaining 3 countries, this rate was the lowest and no more than 10%. The highest percentage of workers employed in industry in Germany, the US, and Japan was 60%, 51%, and 49%, respectively. The rest all ranked second as the proportion of services. In Germany, the US, and China, the services proportion was the same, at 50%. Japan had the lowest proportion of services among the four countries at 40%.
In 2010, the proportion of people choosing agriculture in four countries decreased significantly, in China decreased remaining 50%, and the remaining three countries it no more than 10%. The percentages of people choosing industry in Germany, USA, and Japan significantly increased. In China, that ratio remains unchanged. And finally, the proportion of citizens employed in services decreased. In Germany and USA were the highest with 40%, in Japan was 30%, and the lowest was China with 20%.
