The given charts illustrate the proportion of employees working in three distinct sectors in various countries during the the period of 30 years, starting in 1980.
Overall, the highest figures were recorded in the industrial sector in almost all countries. On the other hand, the lowest figures were witnessed in the agriculture sector.
As can be seen, the proportion of industry in Germany, the USA and Japan was larger than that of agriculture and services by a considerable margin in 1980. Meanwhile, China’s agriculture figure stayed in the highest position at 70%, compared to 40% in the industrial sector and 50% in the service sector during the given period.
With regards to the proportion in 2010, the data of industry in Germany stood at 80%, exceeding that of agriculture and services by 78% and 40%. Both the USA and Japan exhibited a similar trend to Germany with the figure for industry staying at the highest point, followed by that of services and agriculture. China underwent a contrasting trend, with the percentage of agriculture approximately two times higher than that of services, with 50% and 22% respectively.
