The charts delineate the preferences of Australian men and women regarding the transportation methods in 2000. Overall, Bus and Car were the most popular options among both genders, while Motorbikes were treated as the least favoured. There were some notable differences in the percentages between genders for certain modes of transportation.
Specifically, the car was the most common mode of transportation among both genders, with 38% of women opting for it, compared to 32% of men. The bus was the second most popular option , chosen by 29% of men and 27% of women, showing a higher preference among men.
The use of bikes was relatively similar among the genders, with 16% of men and 15% of women opting for them. For walking, it was equally favoured by both genders, with 17% of men and women inclining to the choice of travelling on foot.
A more significant difference could be observed from the option ‘Motorbike’. There were only a small proportion of female interviewees stating their motorbike preference, which constitutes 3% of the overall respondents, while men’s respondents were the double of the females’, having a total of 6% of male revealing their fondness for motorbike.
