“The charts delineate the preferences of Australian men and women regarding their primary transportation methods in 2000. Overall, the car and the bus were the most popular options among both genders, while the motorbike was the least favoured. There were some notable differences in the percentages between genders for certain modes of transportation.
Specifically, the car was the most common mode of transportation, with 38% of women opting for it, compared to 32% of men. The bus was the second most popular option, chosen by 29% of men and 27% of women, showing a marginally higher preference among men.
The use of bikes and walking revealed similar patterns for both genders. For bikes, 16% of men and 15% of women used them, while for walking, an equal proportion of men and women (17%) preferred to travel on foot.
In contrast, a more significant difference could be observed in the preference for motorbikes. Only a small proportion of female interviewees stated this preference, at just 3%, whereas the figure for men was double, at 6%.”
