The two pie charts compare the proportion of total water use for different purposes in two particular countries (Sydney and Australia) in 1997 and 2007. Overall, it is clear that in both two years, the highest amount of water was utilized for the food industry, while the opposite pattern was true for that of the building industry.
The percentage of water used in the food industry witnessed a slight decrease in the two surveyed years, from 48% in 1997 to 41% in 2007, however, these figures comprised the majority in both years. Next, the amount of water that the service industry used doubled between 1997 and 2007, with 13% and 25%, respectively. 19% (1997) and 21%(2007) were witnessed in the amount of household water used, which were quite similar.
In manufacturing, the figure for water used experienced a minimal decline from 15% (1997) to 11% (2007). The percentage of water which was used in the building industry was the lowest during the surveyed period, with 5% in 1997 then decreased to only 2% in 2007.
