The bar charts compare the physical activity levels between adult men and women in England from 2016 to 2017, as well as the specific activities they took part in.
In general, men were more physically active than women. In terms of kinds of activities, walking for leisure and sporting activities were the most common for both genders, while dancing was the least popular.
Regarding physical activity levels, the percentage of active men was 63%, compared to 58% of active women. Following that, the proportion of inactive male and females was 24% and 27% respectively. Meanwhile, the figures of fairly active women was 15%, 2% higher than that of fairly active male.
Considering types of activities, walking for leisure was more common for women, with around a quarter of them participating, while over a fifth of men chose it. In contrast, the percentage of men playing sports was 29%, almost doubled that of women. At the same time, although the rate of women choosing walking for travel and dancing was higher than that of men, cycling activities were more preferred by English men. On the other hand, fitness activities had the equal rate of participants,with 19% of both genders.
