The illustrated pie charts depict the proportions of several degrees held by the graduates working for an engineering company in 2 separate years, 1980 and 2008.

In 1980, the qualification with the largest share of employees was “Master of Science”, at 29%, closely followed by “PhD in Science”, at 25%. In 2008, however, “PhD in Science” overtook and accounted for the greatest shares of employees, at 30%, whereas “Master of Science” retained the same share and was thus the second highest. The lowest fraction of workers had the “PhD in Art” qualification in both 1980, at merely 2%, as well as 2008, at 7%.

Only 2 of the degrees observed an increase in proportion – “PhD in Science” and “PhD in Art”, both of which rose by 5%

Among the remaining degrees, “Master of Science” was the only one to retain its original share, while the others declined. Out of these, “First degree in Science” saw the largest fall, decreasing by 8%, whereas the others’ shares diminished by only 1%.
