The two pie charts illustrate information on the proportion of graduates with various qualifications, namely PhD-science, PhD-Art, Master-science, Master-Art, First degree-science, and First degree-Art, working in a particular company in two different years: 1980 and 2008.
Overall, the figures for PhD in science and art increased marginally, while the reverse was true for the remaining three categories, excluding Master’s in science which remained unchanged.
Focusing on the increases first, the proportion of graduates working with PhD in science increased from 25% in 1980 to 30% in 2008. As for those with PhD in art, the figure experienced a slight rise to 7% in 2008, up from an initial 2% in 1980.
In contrast, the percentage of graduates having Master’s in art, Bachelor’s in science, and Bachelor’s in art exhibited downward trends.Regarding the figures for graduate students with Master’s and Bachelor’s in Art, the former witnessed a mere 1% drop from 13% in 1980 to 12% in 2008 and the latter from 11% to 10% in the same period.The proportion of graduates with Bachelor’s in science,however, declined significantly from 20% in 1980 to 12% in 2008. Lastly, the figure for Master’s in Science accounted for 29% in 1980, a percentage which remained unchanged in 2008.
