The pie charts illustrates the rates of monolingual, bilingual, and multilingual students in Britain who are able to speak languages other than English in a certain university, in 2000 and 2010. Overall, there was a significant shift in the percentages of people knowing no ther languages while rates for people who knew two other languages didn’t changed.
The figure for people who didn’t know other languages curtailed by half, from 20 per cent in 2000 to 10 per cent in 2010. Additionally, individuals who could only speak Spanish rased by 5 per cent. Likewise, students with the knowledge of one or Two other languages increased with the same amount (5 per cent).
In contrast, Freanch speakers diminished in number which resulted a 5 per cent decrease in the total rates. Finally, the figures related to German speakers hadn’t undergone any changes by the end of the period and remain on 10 per cent.
