The charts show the sporting activities chosen by students at an American high school in 2003 and 2013.
Overall, football was the most popular sport in both years, although its percentage decreased slightly. At the same time, volleyball became more popular, while the number of students who did not do any sports increased.
In 2003, football was chosen by 44% of students, making it the most common activity. Basketball was the second most popular at 28%. Tennis and volleyball were less common, at 9% and 12% respectively. Only a small number of students chose other sports (4%), and just 3% did not participate in any sports.
In 2013, football still remained the top choice, but it dropped to 37%. Basketball also decreased slightly to 22%. In contrast, volleyball saw a significant increase to 23%, becoming the second most popular activity. Tennis fell to 6%, while other sports rose slightly to 5%. The percentage of students who did no sports increased noticeably to 7%
