The bar chart illustrates data on reservoir water levels/storage of six Australia’s cities from Oct 2009 to Oct 2010.
As can be inferred from the chart, while the figures for Sydney, Mel, Perth and Canberra record an upturn throughout, the reverse was true for Darwin. In a detailed breakdown, the maximum capacity of the reservoir registered the highest level in Canberra among six by the end of the period, and the opposite was witnessed for Darwin’s water storage.
A pattern can be recognized from the figures for both Canberra and Melbourne : the surveyed period recorded an extra percentage of 8% of the water capacity in reservoirs. Specifically, the statistics for Canberra and Melbourne started at 78% and 22% in Oct 2009, before rising to 80% and 40% in Oct 2010, respectively. Similarly, the maximum water storage of Sydney and Peth experienced an uptrend, with Sydney increasing by just 2% from 79% to 81% and Perth increasing from 40% to 76% over the year.
Unlike the above-mentioned cities, Darwin presented a downward trend from 43% to about 22% in the levels of water stored in reservoirs at the end, registering the lowest level compared to other cities. However, the percentages of Brisbane remained unchanged, recording the constant levels of water capacity at approximately 58% in both years.
