The charts compare how much energy was consumed by the UK and the USA in 2000 and 2006. Overall, non renewable sources were most consumed by two regions, whereas the opposite was true for nuclear power and other renewable sources.
In 2000, the highest energy consumption in the USA was oil with 37 percent, 9 percent more than the UK. Similarly, 35 percent of coal was consumed in the USA, and the UK used less than 5 percent . By contrast, the UK consumed gas, nuclear power and renewable sources, approximately 5 percent more than in the USA.
In 2006, the major energy used in the USA was still oil with 40 percent, whereas oil accounted for three quarters in the UK. The percentage of coal and gas consumption in the USA was equivalent to 25 percent. However, gas was the most important energy in the UK with approximately 40 percent. Nuclear and other renewable sources were still the least consumed energy in both countries.
