Overall, male performance was getting better in some areas than females by the end of the period. Furthermore, humanities was a domain that both genders tended to follow the most.
For male students, language and humanities were equally preferable in 1960 with about 20%; however, only humanities increased to 45% in the end, along with arts, which elevated to approximately 20%. Science and maths fields were exceptions, decreasing to just below 20%.
When it comes to female students, their involvement in languages and humanities were dominant features despite a decline – languages demonstrated the rate of more or less 45% down 30%, and humanities with 30% down 25%, which is the same trend as arts department. Maths and science registered negligible trends, with maths being around 5%, and science showing a slight upward trajectory, with just above 10%.
