The given bar charts illustrate the average daily time spent on two leisure activities—reading and listening to music—by people in five different age groups in New Zealand.

Overall, reading for leisure is the most popular activity among those aged over 55, while the youngest age group, 15-24, spent the least time on this pastime. As for listening to music, this pastime is most popular among those aged 15-24 and over 55, while the 35-44 age group allocated the lowest amount of time to this activity.

In terms of leisure reading, people aged over 55 spent around 70 minutes on average, the highest among all age groups surveyed. This was followed by the 45-54 and 35-44 age groups, with respective figures being approximately 50 and 45 minutes. Individuals aged 25-34 spent around 35 minutes reading, which is almost double the amount spent by those in the 15-24 age group.

Regarding listening to music, young adults aged 15-24 allocated 80 minutes of their daily free time to this activity, just 5 minutes more than those aged over 55. The 25-34 and 45-54 age groups both spent 60 minutes on average. Meanwhile, people aged 35-44 spent the least time listening to music, with only 45 minutes per day.
