Looking from an overall perspective, it is clear that men had the highest percentage who driving license throughout the period. In contrast, young drivers between 17-20 years old women had the lowest proportion.
In detail, the proportion of men who had driving license showed a slight increase from 70% to 75% between 1976 and 1991. Meanwhile, the percentage of women who had driving license exhibited a gradual increase from 30% in 1976 to 44% in 1991, before reaching 53% in 2001. Moreover, the proportion of men who had driving license accounted for 80% in 2006, whereas the percentage of women represented 60% in 2006.
In terms of young drivers, the percentage of men declined modestly from 50% to 45% between 1996 and 2006. Additionally, the proportion of women decreased significantly from 30% in 1996 to 20% in 2006.
