Action films were by the far the most common film for both male and female especially among men with around 40% and 25% respectively. However, the figure for comedy was half as popular as action with approximately 20% for each gender, while a twentieth of the women preferred watching science fiction compared to 10% of men who watched same type of the movie.
Action films ticket sales owned almost half of the overall ticket sales with 49% in 2010. Furthermore, the USA citizens bought half as many tickets as action for comedy films with 24%, whereas the negligible amount of the Americans purchased thriller and other kind of the movies, with 10% and 5% respectively.
