The chart illustrates the proportion of female and male youngsters in the age of 5-14 participating in cultural activities and sports in Australia in 2003.
Overall, it is obvious that girls were mostly interested in taking part in cultural activities, while boys engaging in sports more oftenly. In addition, the biggest gap between two genders can be witnessed in the dancing activity.
Looking at detail, about 25% of the girls said that they often joined dancing in their free time, compared to approximately 2% of their maile counterparts. By contrast, the percentage of teen boys going to cultural activities to play musicals was far higher then that of girls, with respective figures being 15% and 10%.
In terms of sport, the figure for boys aged 5-14 years old reached roughly 70%, which was higher than the participation of girls, taking up 52%. Moreover, drama and singing programs attracted equal number of boys and girls with over 4% of male students and 5% female students taking part in this activities.
