The bart charts compare 3 different countries,namely France,Germany and England,in terms of the percentage of spending on food and other goods between 1998 and 2008.Units are measured in shares.
Overall, spending on both food and other goods increased in all three countries between 1998 and 2008, with France showing the highest expenditures in both categories by 2008, while England consistently had the lowest spending on food.
Although France in 1998 spent less on food at 15 percent compared to Germany’s 25 percent, by 2008, it showed the highest increase, reaching 40 percent. England had the lowest food expenditure in both years, rising modestly from 10 percent to 15 percent. Germany, which had the highest food spending in 1998, was overtaken by France by 2008, as it reached 30 percent.
In terms of other goods, a similar trend was observed. France experienced a significant rise from 8 percent in 1998 to 40 percent in 2008. Germany saw moderate growth, increasing from 18 percent to 24 percent. England’s spending rose sharply from only 6 percent in 1998 to 35 percent in 2008. By the end of the period, France and England had nearly the same level of expenditure on other goods.
