TASK 1: Bar charts( Trend )
The bar charts illustrate the proportion of expenditure for food and other commodities in France, Germany, and England, over a ten-year period between 1998 and 2008.
Overall, it is clear that people’s spending for both food and products in all countries experienced a constant increase over the period in question, with the most noticeable growth for food in England. Another key observation is that population in France spent the smallest percentage of their budget for both expenses initially, but after substantial jump, they become by far the biggest buyers by the end of the period.
Looking at the details, the share of spending for food in France began at 15% in 1998, and boosted significantly, representing 40% in 2008. Meanwhile, people in both Germany and England witnessed a slight rise by 5%, from 25% and 10% in 1998 to 30% and 15% in the following decade.
In terms of other products, France and England witnessed a considerable increase,both starting at approximately 6%, accounted for 40% and 35% in that order in 2008. Similarly with food expenses, spending for other items in Germany climbed slowly compared to other countries from around 17% in the beginning to just under 25% in 2008.
