The line graph illustrates the number of distributions made by two market-dominant mailing companies(FedEx, and TNT) between 1920 and 2000.
Overall, there was an increase for both companies, though, TNT’s delivery number experienced a much greater rise, whereas FedEx showed a negligible rise by the end of the period.
FedEx’s figures stood at 15000 mails per year in 1920. This was followed by a considerable increase in 1930, reaching well under 20000, and this upward trend went on, reaching its peak of approximately 24000 parcels delivered by 1940. However, the trend was broken by a sudden plunge over the next two decades. Before leveling off at its 1930s end, the trend had experienced a significant rise during the last 20 years.
On the other hand, TNT had much better statistics. Despite starting in 1920 with a much lower number of deliveries per year(5000, which is 10 thousand less than FedEx), it experienced a gradual increase: rising in its value until 1860, when it almost peaked at FedEx’s dip point. Although there were not any intersections between their points, there was a rapid growth in TNT’s parcel delivery, and it overtook FedEx in 1985. In the last two decades, it resulted in another increase, reaching just under 25000 deliveries, and became the most dominant mail service by the end of the period.
