Overall, all country witnessed an upward trend in the percentage of women parliament membership. Moreover, Italy experienced the most significant rise over time and Germany saw the least significant rise.
From 2000 to 2004, Belgium grew noticeably from 24% to 35% of parliament member who is a female, the percentage point then remained unchanged in 4 years before increased, ending with 38% in 2012. At first, Spain also rose rapidly from 27% in 2000 to 36% in 2004, the rate then fell slightly to 25% in 2008 and stayed stably till 2012. Moreover, Germany witnessed a minimal growth even though the country ranked first in the year 2000, accounting at 31%. During the whole period, Germany only grew by 1%.
Similarly, A rise had been saw in the Italy’s female percentage who subscribed for parliament membership. At first, the country rise slightly at 2,5% by around 1 percentage point from 2000 to 2004, then the rate climbed up to 24%, almost 10 times higher than that of 2000. The percentage then stayed at that until the end. The UK also remained unchanged in the first 4 years at 17%, but the next 8 years it grew to 24% as much as that of Italy.
