The diagram illustrates the procedure through which glass and plastic containers are recycled.
In general, it can be seen that the process of recycling glass and plastic is composed of eight steps which are distinguished by the color of the glass as well as size and quality of the plastic.
The process commences with glass and plastic waste collection which takes five to ten days until it is being transported to the recycling centre. The process then continues with filtering and sorting glass through its color and plastic through its thickness and quality, with the former being crushed by a crusher machine and the latter being bundled.
Looking first for the glass, the crushed glass is being washed before being processed that involves two different machines. The melting process uses a melting machine with constant heat and then followed by a reshaping machine that transform melted glass into a better shape and quality. This process for the new product takes three to eight weeks of production.
In terms of the plastic, the bundled plastic then continues to be shredded into small pieces. The subsequent step then for the plastic is to be washed. It then followed by the clean plastic pieces which are melted and reshaped by the same machine, unlike for glass, which will then produce for new product.
