The diagram illustrates the various stages involved in the water treatment process.
Overall, the process consists of ten main steps, starting with water intake and pumping from the lake, and culminating in the final step of making the water drinkable. The process begins with the lake water being pumped through the two large intake screens to the pumps. The water is then passed by a flash mix where water is treated with oxidants and polyaluminum chloride. Just after that, it underwents floccultion and following that the water is being pumped in the settling basin.
Soon after, the water is mixed with chlorine to purify it from germs and bacteria, chlorine acts as a disinfectant here. The purified water then passes through a filter membrane for further filtration. As soon as the water is filtered, it is disinfected with lime, fluoride, and chloride. Finally, the purified drinkable water is pumped out by the faucet.
