The given image demonstrates how biodiesel is made and used.
Overall, there are seven major steps required to produce biodiesel, commencing with the photosynthesis and ending with releasing the carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
At the beginning of the process, oil crops absorb CO2 and sunlight to start the photosynthesis process, taking energy to produce the seeds. The next step, these seeds are extracted to produce crude vegetable oil before refining.
In the subsequent stage, refined vegetable oil undergoes a transesterification process, adding alcohol. Then, it is turned into two different products , biodiesel and glycerol. While glycerol is used in the food industry and cosmetic industry, biodiesel is the fuel of many types of vehicles or to become the energy of some machines. In the penultimate stage, the vehicles release the emission into the atmosphere, combining with the sunlight which are the main energy for the oil crops to survive, and renewing the process.
