The illustration above describes the process of producing how glass bottles are recycled. In general, the whole process consists of 9 steps, starting with collection and concluding with sale of new glass products.
Firstly, used glass bottles are collected from households, restaurants, and recycling bins and transported to a recycling center. At this stage, bottles sorted by color (clear, green, and brown). This step ensures that each color type can be recycled properly.Next, they are washed throughly to remove any labels, dirt, and impurities.
In the following stage, the clean glass is crushed into small pieces and melted in a furnace at a temperature of around 600-800 C.The molten glass can either be molded into new bottles or mixed with new materials to produce other glass products.
At the final stage, the recycled glass is supplied to manufacturing industries, where it is used to produse new bottles and containers. As the final step, new bottles are filled with drinks, labeled, and send to supermarkets for sale to customers, completing the cycle.
