The diagram shows how leather goods are made using animal hide. Overall, it is a complex procedure involving both manual and mechanic labor. There are 12 steps in total, beginning from the delivery of animal skin and finishing with the waxing of the product.
Initially, animal skin is transported from a farm to the factory where key stages take place. Animal hide is sorted into two groups- large and small, based on their size. Following this, human intervention is required to trim the skin using scissors, to remove some unwanted parts. Then, salt is added before pickling occurs, where salt and acid are combined into a large container with animal hide.
Thereafter, knife is used to remove hair from the skin. After that, the animal hide is soaked into water for 12-24 hours. Afterward, one of the longest stages, curing, takes place for 30 days. Once this step is complete, a cured hide is tanned with chemicals in a large round container for 48 hours. Next, oil and colors are applied to soften the products and obtain different colors. Subsequently, they are dried and the process culminates in waxing of the hide.
