The diagram given provides the creation and destruction process of rock in the rock cycle. Overall, the rock cycle process consists of five steps in minimum, starting from erosion of rock in the earth’s surface and ending in metamorphic rock, before it goes to volcanic process to turn back to the first form to complete the cycle.
Firstly, rain water in the earth surface causes erosion of rock process and turn rocks into sand and stones. The rain water will flow from higher altitude surface to the sea and brings the sand and stones with it. After that, sedimentation process happens in the bottom of the sea where sand and stones combine into sedimentary rock. This process will happen continuously and burry the rock deeper to be nearer to the core of the earth. High pressure and temperature near the earth’s core will make the sedimentary rock turns into metamorphic rock which located nearer to the magma. Magma with high temperature will melt metamorphic rock and it will continue to volcanic activities.
Afterwards, when the volcano erupts, the magma from inside of the volcano will come out. The magma which come out of the volcano will be cool down and turn into lava. After some times, lava will turn into igneous rock which located in the earth’s surface. The process will continue to the first step and makes it a continuous cycle.
