The maps illustrate the changes to the Central Library by comparing the current layout with that from 20 years ago. Overall, the library has been modernized to incorporate dedicated spaces for events and an open area in the center.
Twenty years ago, there was a reading room for newspapers and magazines to the left of the entrance, which has now been converted into a computer room. On the right side of the entrance, the enquiry desk, which handled tickets and book returns, has been transformed into a café. Adult fiction books that were originally located on the left-hand side have now been moved to the right side, accompanied by the addition of an information desk and self-service kiosks nearby. A significant change is the removal of tables and chairs from the center of the library.
The children’s fiction books and storytelling area have been reconfigured to include a room for CDs, videos, and computer games, featuring sofas for comfort. Instead of adult fiction books, this area now houses an extensive collection of reference books, while adult non-fiction titles have been entirely removed from the library’s layout.
