The maps illustrate some changes that were made to the floor plan of a public library over the past 20 years ago.
It is clear that most of the major modifications were the made to public library’s floor plan. These include building lecture room,computer room,cafe, repurposing several sections,rearranging better accommodation according to visitor’s need.
Looking at the charts in more detail, we can see that the children’s books at the top-right hand corner have been converted into lecture room over the past 20 years. The CDs, videos, computer games on the top-left-hand corner have changed and expanded to including sofa,story telling area along with a section for children’s fiction books. The central place that once held tables and chairs is now open,providing more walking space.
The two maps also show that,the reading room in the bottom left corner has been replaced with a computer room,while adult fiction books have moved to the central left section, which previously held adult non-fiction books. The enquiry desk in the bottom right corner has been transformed into a cafe with self-service machines beside it.Meanwhile,adult non-fiction books are no longer present and an information desk now occupies their former space. Notably,the entrance remained unchanged over the period.
