The given layout demonstrates the architecture plan of the floor of a public library two decades ago and how it has been rebuilt through these years.
Overall, the Central library was modernised with new technologies and reconstructed to allocate more space for interactive activities.
To start with, there was a children’s book room in the upper right corner twenty years ago, meanwhile now it is a lecture room. The adult non-fiction books place was replaced with some self-service machines, so an enquiry desk was renovated as a café. There also were added the adult fiction books shelves, which were on the left side of the diagram before, and a small information desk.
Secondly, in the centre of the public library were a couple of tables and chairs 20 years ago, but they were taken away to, probably, merge some more space.
Finally, the room used for CDs, videos and computer games in the upper left corner was developed into a children’s fiction books place with a few sofas, where storytelling events are held nowadays. As adult fiction books moved on the right, there were allocated all reference books shelves. The reading room near the entrance, where newspapers and magazines used to be before, was rebuilt into a computer room now.
