The two maps illustrate the floor plan of Central library 2 decades ago and its looks currently.
Overall, Central library has undergone a significant transformation albeit having the same size and shape as before. Among the new current features are provision of new amenities like a cafe and a computer room, replacement of some amenities and change in space demarcation.
Two decades ago, the library had a CD’s, videos, and computer games area on the northwest, adult fiction book on the west, adult non fiction book on the east, reading room on the southwest, enquiry desk on the southeast and tables and chairs in the middle.
Currently, the library sofas, storytelling events and children’s fiction books in the northwest, all reference books in the west, computer room in the southwest, lecture room in the northeast, adult fiction books, information desk and self service machines in the east. Lastly, cafe is situated in the southeast. There are no tables and chairs in the middle of the library leaving an enormous space as one walks in the room from the entrance.
