The figures illustrate the life stages of silkworm and the steps involved in how the silkworm is produced.
Life cycle of silkworm begins when the moth lay eggs on the leaf. In 10 days, these eggs hatch and silkworm larvae feed on the mulberry leaf as its food source. In the time period of 4-6 weeks, larvae forms silky thread around itself to shelter itself in and in 3-8 days, a cocoon is formed. After 16 days, moth is formed and the process is repeated.
In the first stage of how the silk cloth is produced, a cocoon is selected which is then boiled in a bucket containing hot water. Following this, cocoon is then unwinded into 300m-900m long thread. In the last two stages, the thread is twisted and dyed. Later, it is also waved and dyed.
Overalls life cycle of silkworm is a 4-stage process from eggs to cocoon. Later, this cocoon undergoes through four different stages before it is dyed.
