The diagram illustrate the current layout and proposed development of a university’s biomedical campus.
Overall, the campus is going to change significantly in densification, with the main changes will be the expansion of of existing buildings and a new specialized department. This development will be mostly involve the reconfiguration of the road network and several green spaces will be clear to have space for the new buildings.
In the northern section, the current landscape, which was largely occupied by trees, will be widely developed. Most of the trees will be cleared to make way for the new “Genetics 1″ and ” Bio-imaging” buildings. While the original car park in the northeast remains, a new, dedicated staff car part will be built in the southwest. A big stuctural shift involved the central road, which currently bisects the campus. It is planned to be removed and replaced by a road the will go around the entire site.
Regarding the southern section, several facilities will be upgraded or expanded. The biotech building is expected to be significantly larger than the current one, and the biochemistry will have a new wing, making the building look like a V. To the east, the current genetics center will be replaced by a larger “Genetics 2”, next to it, will be a new constructed laboratory. While the changes in the northern are big, the central walkway and the original laboratory in the west are the only things that will be remained unchaged.
