The diagram illustrates the production of maple syrup in different stages.
Overall, there are 3 main steps in the process. It begins with collecting raw materials from the trees and concludes with using the syrup as foods and ingredients.
Initially, the temperature gap between day and night makes the sap flow throughout the tree. At night, the sap flows from the bottom of the tree to the higher places due to the temperature being below the freezing point. Subsequently, the sap flows down during the day when the temperature is higher. The flow is trapped by a tap which is linked with a tube, flowing down to the storage tank.
The following steps is the transformation of the raw materials, which are already stored in a storage tank. The raw syrup undergoes an evaporator, where it is purified and transformed into maple syrup. After that, the syrup can not only be used as an ingredient in cakes and candy such as cookies and biscuits, but it can also be sold through the intermediate distribution channels, as the stores can sell it for customers who can use the syrup for different purposes, for example, to use with pancakes.
