The picture describes how to produce a lead pencil. the process of producing a lead pencil. Overall, the process comprises a number of steps, beginning with planting the saplings, through different mechanical stages, and culminating in the package of the pencils.
At the beginning of the process, the seedlings are planted in a small area, and after four months, they are replanted into trays, where they are nurtured for three years. Subsequently, the trees are transplanted to a field, being cultivated thinner in order to grow. After four-teen years of growing, these trees are cut down for logging, and then being transported to factories or sawmills.
The process continues with the logs being peeled their bark off, after which they are cut into thin slats by a circular saw. The slats are then treated by chemicals to ensure that they are preserved before being untouched until sixty days so that they are dry for the next steps. Afterwards, these slats are carved to create grooves in order to put the black lead in. Once the pencil lead was strengthened by glue in the grooves, it is sandwiched by new slats. Following this, the combined slats are hard-pressed under the heat by a machine to stick them firmly together prior to being cut into sticks. Next, the sticks are painted, sharpened and stamped to be the pencils and to make them more attractive for sales. These pencils are finally packaged to distribute to retailers or wholesalers.
