The diagram illustrates the basic production process of consumer goods and how the initial stages are given feedback in order to allow for improvement.
Overall, manufacturing is a complex activity comprising of 8 main stages. However there are 3 additional steps to ensure communication on areas that need adjustments.
To begin with, raw materials and manufactured components are stored in a safe place. Following this, production planning is carried out. This involves researchers studying the needs of the consumers and the best design needed for it.
After this stage, the unrefined goods are assembled to create the merchandise. Then they are inspected to ensure they meet the desired specifications. Thereafter, they are tested to know if they are in line with outlined design, packed and sent to the market for sales.
The second aspect of the operation involves the beginning stages getting feedback on reception of the product and where alterations are to be made. Depending on how sales go, production planning is adjusted to accommodate consumer’s criticisms. Also market research is done to understand competitors and target audience and this assist in making sure design, packaging and advertisement are tailored towards the right people and their need thereby improving the volume of goods that will be sold.
