The flow chart below illustrates the process involved in the hydrologic cycle, which is also known as water cycle.

Generally speaking, it is evident from the chart that the whole process entails 5 steps in order to circulate water. These phases can be divided into 2 stages: water transfer to the atmosphere and water return to the earth.

Turning to the first stage,there is evaporation process.Water usually evaporates from ocean, lake and other water resources due to the heat releasing from sun.There is also plants, releasing moisture into the air through transpiration. The water vapors rise and cool, experiencing condensation and evolving clouds in the sky.

The second stage begins when clouds emit water as rain within the process called precipation. Before being flowed into the lake, the rain water turns into snow. Once water has accumulated, it flows drirectly into the ocean through underground. Some of water infiltrates the soil through percolation, and then it becomes part of underground reservoirs. Having been flowed back to the ocean, the water evaporates into the air again, repeating the cycle over and over.
