The diagram shows the steps of the water cycle in both forested and urban areas.
There is evaporation, transpiration, infiltration and precipitation in the water cycle. Overall, the forested area has a lot of trees and the urban area has many buildings.
In the forested area, there is evaporated and transpirated from the forest to the clouds. And then, the clouds are collected from evaporation and transpiration, and it happens precipitation. After that, the rain touched the trees and the ground. Some rain are infiltrated into the topsoil and also into the subsoil. There has a water table under the subsoil. The water is reached to the water table and flowed along the baseflow. Some rain upon the topsoil are runoffed.
In the urban areas, when precipitation is happened, the rain touched the buildings. If there are many buildings and no soil to absorb the rain, it is reduced evaporation and transpiration. Also, it is reduced infiltration and baseflow. After that, it is increased polluted runoff and erosion.
