The provided diagrams illustrate the alterations made to Liverton docks since 1980 and show the current modified state of the dock.
Overall, it can be observed that the docks have been completely transformed into a tourist spot and a residential area, which mainly comprises of a ship museum, a hotel, an apartment building, a parking, an education centre, a sailing club, and a kid’s playing area.
In 1980, the Liverton docks were exclusively being used for trade. On the north-end, it had two warehouses and a crane, while the centre was used by the ships, with approximately 4 ships at a particular given time. Conversely, in the south-end there was just one warehouse and only one crane.
Currently the docks have been extensively modified with some significant changes. First of all, the north-end and the south-end have been connected with a bridge and flood barrier have been constructed to the coast. In the north, one of the old warehouses have been converted into an education centre and a new sailing club has been added. Moreover, a kid’s playing area has been constructed. The centre has been transformed into a ship museum. In the south, a new hotel and a parking has been built, with an addition of river walk facing the north side leading to the coast. Furthermore, the old warehouse on the south-end has been converted into an apartment building.
