Task 1
The diagram illustrates the detailed process of manufacturing sugar by a Deutsch company for the utility of restaurants and supermarkets. Overall, the process consists of eight different steps, which can be grouped into four main stages: starting with preparing a raw material, followed by delivering to Germany and processing sugar, and finally delivering to the markets. Moreover, this process is a complex one as it requires much time and equipment to complete.
The initial stage begins with harvesting sugarcanes in tropical regions. Once harvested, ripe sugarcanes’ juice is squeezed out by a crusher machine. After being collected, juice is taken to the partial filtration step in order to collect raw sugar. Following this semi-ready product is transported to Germany through airplanes to prepare it for the subsequent stages.
In the next stages raw sugar is inserted into complete purification through melting and filtering the product drop by drop after which purified sugar syrup is crystallized and then dried by special vents. In the final stage, ready product undergoes a packaging step, which then sugar bags are distributed to supermarkets and restaurants by trucks to consumers.
