The diagram gives information on the detailed stages involved in the usage of a modern landfill to dispose of household waste.
Overall, there are 4 stages of this process, beginning with the construction of the landfill and ending with the closure of the full-waste landfill.
The linear begins when a giant hole is digged in the ground above the surface of natural rock. Subsquently, the hole is covered with a layer of clay, which is followed by the fill of synthetic materials to ensure that the toxic waste will not leach into the ground. The drainage system is then equipped with pipes and a tank at the bottom of the pit in order to contain the waste liquid.
Once the process of construction is totally done, the waste from household units is then put into the pit, after which the water content is went to the tank through drainage pipes. In the final step, when the landfill is full of the toxic waste, it is covered with a another layer of clay on top. After a long time, the household waste decomposed and released an amount of harmful gas, which is emit outside from a pipe.
