The diagrams illustrate the existing and proposed floor plans for the redevelopment of an art gallery.
In the existing layout, the gallery consists of three main areas. The permanent exhibition space occupies the central part of the gallery, while the temporary exhibition space is situated directly to its right. To the far right of the plan, there is a lobby and an office near the entrance. Additionally, an area labeled “Not part of the existing gallery” takes up the left side of the building, which is not accessible to visitors.
In the proposed plan, several significant changes have been made to expand and reorganize the space. The permanent exhibition space remains in the same central location, but the temporary exhibition space has been replaced by an education area and a store/plant room. The lobby has been eliminated, and the office is no longer present. A special exhibition space has been added to the far left of the plan, occupying the area previously outside of the gallery. Furthermore, an exhibition store has been built adjacent to this new exhibition space, providing additional room for exhibits.
Overall, the proposed changes create a more diversified space for both exhibitions and educational activities, significantly expanding the gallery’s capacity.
